I Need Advice

So we are having a problem with Michael. He has started throwing up randomly when he eats. It started last Monday, Oct. 26, 2007. At first he would start saying, "Ow, ow, ow," when he would swallow his food. He would stop swallowing and started coughing and gagging until he threw up. I thought that he was sick and having a sore throat and that was the problem. We switched to eating yogurt and oatmeal for a few days. Now he isn't complaining that it hurts, but he's still gagging and coughing until he throws up. He is doing it at least 2 times a day. It's not all foods that he does it to, and I can't figure out any pattern to a certain food causing it. If any of you mom's have had similar problems or issues with your kids, I would love any advice you could give me.

Does it seem like he really CAN'T swollow, or is it just that he has discovered how to gag? My kids never did this, but when I had my daycare there was a little girl who did that all the time, and the doctor said that it is pretty common for kids to learn how to do that and think it's cool. He said as long as they do keep food down sometimes, and they don't lose weight it isn't anything to worry about and they will grow out of it eventually when it isn't as "fun" anymore. She did - it lasted about a month. It could be that the first time something got stuck in his throught or something, and he made himself throw up to get it out, and then when he figured out he could do it he thought he was pretty cool. But I don't know, I'm totally not an expert, that's the only time I have ever seen that happen before this.

Holy Cow Jer and I were just reading the date, and if you kid has been throwing up for that long, take him to the DR. Just kidding sorry I am of no help, and Jer less. When our family has the pukes, we drink flat coke. Sometimes my kids just want a drink of soda so they tell me that they think they are going to throw up. Good luck
