A Couple of Close Calls

Michael has really added some excitement to our lives in the past week. We'll start with last Sunday.
I was getting ready to put Michael in the bathtub. He went running into the bathroom, because he never walks anywhere, and the next thing I hear is a thump and then serious crying. I get into the bathroom, and I see Michael laid out across the footstool with his head right next to the tub. I pick him up and see that he is bleeding from his mouth and the blood is totally freaking him out. I quickly got a washcloth to his mouth so I could see what exactly was hurt. He had split his top lip open, cut his upper gums, and his left front tooth was loose and hanging lower than the other one. Levi was working, so I called him and told him that we might be making a trip to the ER. I went ahead and put Michael in the tub and got both of us cleaned up. Once we got rid of all the blood it wasn't quite as serious as I thought, so we didn't have to go to the doctor. It has been a pretty tender week as far as eating goes for Michael. The tooth has tightened up and his lip is healing nicely.

This weekend we went to the cabin with my family. Outside of the cabin we have a whole that has been dug for a septic tank. It is about 7 feet deep. The first weekend we went to the mountain this hole was almost completely full of water, but it has been evaporating pretty rabidly as the summer has gone on. Yesterday Michael and Daxton were throwing rocks into the water. My mom was on her way to tell them to stop and come away from the hole when disaster struck. Michael slipped and fell into the hole. She started screaming and everyone else started running. Kurt got there first and jumped into the hole to pull Michael out. (He really is Superman.) Luckily the water was only about a foot deep, so, even though Michael did go all the way under the water, he was able to get his head above the water and wasn't in too much danger. But we are very grateful that Uncle Kurt was so fast. Even with the long fall, Michael came away with just a few scrapes and a good scare.
I am just very grateful today for a Heavenly Father who has been watching out for and protecting our little boy this past week. I'm sure he has an army of guardian angels following him around.
